After concluding my thesis surveys i immediately began working on my project work with the selected technique concluded from these surveys. The technique chosen was photograph depicting a sequence of movement by Etienne Jules Marey.
I shall experiment more with this technique, play around with different opacities, different movement and also different distance between each step of the movement to also suggest different speed of the movement happening. apart from this i aim to keep a landscape layout as i believe this enhances the movement happening, this aids the viewer’s eyes to move along the sequence logically.
Relating to my theme of movement, i chose to experiment with long exposure photography which was inspired by the work of the Bragaglia Brothers. This use of long exposure creates a blurred effect in the figure’s movement which is very contrasting when compared to previous work i have produced using short exposure times, where the image and figure translate a static state of a particular movement. it is suggested by the Bragaglia Brothers that, their method of long exposure captures the essence of movement, revealing its ‘soul’ and expression.
